What is the RAD?

RAD stand for ROOS Athlete Development Program

When are tryouts for RAD?

Tryouts will take place in September of 2009. Visit this link to get the exact dates and Register Online.

The RAD program is:

Skill and tactical training, sports nutrition, physical conditioning, sports injury prevention and overall mental preparation. The RAD is designed to bring together coaches, athletes and parents to work towards a common goal while building club spirit.

The RAD program is designed to:

Assist the ROOS players to achieve their peak performance during the regular season and reach their highest potential by the end of their ROOS career. It is designed to help the competitive athletes take their play to the next level (college/university, national or professional) by training all areas of an athletes life.

What makes the RAD work?

The RAD is based on the Ontario Volleyball Association's ADP and Volleyball Canada's Long Term Athlete Development model.

Who are the RAD instructors?

The RAD is directed by SportsCan experts and our top volleyball coaches. Sportscan instructors: Jeffery Mooney, Jen Brown, Colin Walker and Doug Anton are some of the best in Canada and have experience in the highest levels of Volleyball Coaching, playing and sport science/nutrition in Canada.

How is the RAD taught to the athletes?

- The RAD program delivery has been altered since our first try. Additional training will be added on to the beginning or end of practices to reduce the number of extra days that were required. More information about the schedule for RAD training will be provided once our competitive teams have been made. Training and informaiton will still be inline with the time of year: early-season, pre-competition, competition, post-competition and will still be based on a continuum of training to motivate, challenge and provide new information for our athletes.
